The Perfect Day

So we had 70 degree weather yesterday.
Go figure.  2 days before that it was
30 degrees and we had snow flurries. But
yesterday, it was BEAUTIFUL. Too beautiful
to stay indoors for sure.  We got all ready and
went down to the park for a bit and then to the
river walk in Columbus.  Everyone was out
and about, riding their bikes, playing with their
dogs, and just enjoying the day.  We had the best time!
Harper loved the fresh air and Kyler loved climbing
and exploring everything.  It was such a good day
to just be together!  After such a hectic week, just
to be with the family was exactly what I needed.
Speaking of school, one week down; six more to go
before spring break! WHOO!
I took so many pictures throughout the day,
but of course after editing and deleting, I was left with
a little over 100 from the day .  I love each
and every one of them!
I should be working on my list of things to do for
school, but I got sidetracked doing housework
and blogging.  I got in a cleaning mood earlier
and started re-arranging and putting away.  I can't
wait for summertime so I can paint the walls
of my house! D says we have to wait until the summer
so we have the time and moolah... and I am
already planning and picking out colors.  These
colors we have now are just plain and ordinary.
Blah.  I need color and sophistication.

Sigh.  Time for baths and bedtime. :)
Have a happy week!

Pizza Night

Kyler has been helping me cook
a lot more lately, so I figured we would do
something fun tonight for dinner. I was so glad
today was Friday that I didn't even think about
dinner until I got out of school.  But after I
got out and could think straight for once,
I realized tonight was pizza night!
I got home and got everything together...

We started with this...

 cheeses and pepperonis...

pizza crust (the lazy kind), tomato sauce, and tomato paste

Then Kyler made his own pizza, and I made one.

 my pizza!

Kyler's pizza!

They were both soooo good. Lots of cheese and sauce.
Now I know Pizza Hut skimps on their cheese.
Ours were covered in it and it would hang from the
pizza when we took a bite.

Perfect end to a very hectic and busy week. :)

Catch Up

Well, I started interning.
I have 4th grade at Cook Elementary
until Spring Break, then I'll go to
4th grade at Caledonia Elementary. All
semester...4th grade. Hopefully I love
4th graders.  I start full days tomorrow..
I can already tell I am going to be worn out
by the time 3 p.m. gets here tomorrow. Just
after two half days of being there I felt like
it had been a whole week!
And, on top of all this craziness of school,
Harper is sick again. This time it is congestion,
but it sounds so bad. She feels so bad
and gets so frustrated because she can't drink
her milk because she can't breathe. :/ Poor baby.
We have been babying her, which is not
good for her or us. She wants to be rocked non
stop while she sleeps; if I stop rocking, she wakes up.
She is eating lots of table food, though. I just know
she's going to cut a tooth anytime now. She just has to.

I am so sad we haven't been attending our life group
lately.  It is on Thursday nights, and with me having
to be at school at 7 a.m., it's just not possible
for us to go and not get home until 9 or later and
get the kids fed, bathed, and ready for bed in a timely
manner.  We have schedule around here........but
I am starting to read the book that the rest of
our life group started, so I know what is going on
at least.  D is helping a lot around here! It took long enough
that it is hard work to take care of
two kids, cook, clean, do laundry, and school
work all at the same time! He knows I'm kidding...
He has always helped, but now we are both
having to do it all a lot more.

With school in full swing, this semester is
going to FLY by. And I am ready.  I have started filling
out job applications and am just waiting on my
letters of recommendation to arrive so I can put
them in the envelope.  I need a job, like, as soon
as  I graduate.  D has been holding the weight of
taking care of us for two years while I finished school.
Bless him.  I love him so. :)
With spring coming soon, that means t-ball is coming, too!
Kyler will probably play in Caledonia this time,
since that is where we live and he will go to school
here... Figured he needs to meet all the kids and we
need to meet the parents.  And my plan is to meet
the teachers at Caledonia to put a good word in for
me so I can teach here, too! ;) Gotta do what I gotta do.

Whew. Lesson plans have consumed me today.
Let's hope this first full week of teaching is
full of positives and smiles!

Have a good week!

Here are some pictures from the weekend......

School.

I'll probably be M.I.A a lot
this semester.. I started my first week
of my LAST semester at school..
and I am already above my neck in things to do.
We start out at our schools to actually intern
next Friday, but until then it is seminars,
papers, projects, presentations, case studies, and everything
else in between to do at the W. Geez. You would
think that once we get to this final semester,
they would just let us teach already! But no, just more
busy work! No use complaining about it, though...
It has to be done if I want to graduate. And I WILL BE!

I don't get home until after 4 now everyday and by
the time I get home, get everything unloaded and
put away, it's time to start dinner (we eat no later
than 6 every night).. and of course after that
I work on school stuff and do my routine things
at home before bed. Not much time left over for blogging.
I need to be working on my Classroom Management
Plan as I type this, but that will come later today
I suppose.  We are missing our church's
Covenant Weekend because I just don't have the time
to go to it this time. I hate we are missing it, and want
to be there oh so bad... but I just don't have the time
or the energy to go when I have tons to do here.
I have to keep reminding myself that in a few months,
everything I haven't done or gotten to do will be
worth it. It will. When I have that little piece of
paper I have worked on for 4 years and paid
thousands of dollars for that says I can be a teacher.

I started applying for jobs yesterday. I printed
out ones from 3 different school districts. They
say W students get hired site unseen since our
program is so strenuous, so hopefully I will
have a career opportunity (or more than one) soon!

For now, I'll leave you with a couple of pictures
from the week. Until next Saturday!

Snow Day Food

Since we were all freezing when we came
inside this morning... Kyler helped me
make breakfast! I tried to talk him into
pancakes, but he wanted to crack the eggs.
So we did bacon, eggs, sausage, and biscuits.
He cracked every egg (and did not make a mess
or get any shells in the bowl)  and put all the
biscuits on the pan for me. Then he used the
"whiskas" to whisk the eggs and put the salt
and pepper in. He did a great job.

He helps mea lot, but I usually have too many things going
on the stove to get my camera out. I had it on
hand today since I have been taking pictures
all day! While he is still asleep, I made some
homemade SNOW CREAM. :)
You take a big bowl of SNOW:
Add 1 can of sweetened condensed milk
and some vanilla (to your taste)
and MIX together!
Piece of cake.
Or ice cream in this situation.
And it is Oh So Good. Good snack
to slurp on while I watch all the
other neighborhood kids play
outside from my window. Mine are pooped.
Kyler is still asleep and Harper is just
being her normal happy, full of attitude self.
HAPPY SNOW MONDAY! What
a great way to start the week! :)

Snow Day!

1.10.2011. Snow Day. :)

We woke up to lots of great
packed snow.. perfect for a snowman!
Here is Frosty.. Kyler named him.
Guess that's the only name he could
think of! :) Frosty the (Mexican) Snowman:

We played and played.. then came inside.
D had to go to work.. and just as he left,
Uncle Chris and Hope pulled up on the
4-wheeler! He rode Kyler around for a while..
and then things got interesting.  We got the
swimming pool from the shed and Chris
hooked it up to the 4-wheeler with a rope.
Oh ya. Redneck Sledding. It's a new sport.

I had to have a go on that... and it was so fun!
We rode and rode until the pool ripped. No more
sledding after that.  It was great while it lasted!
I am now making SNOW CREAM! :) Kyler is
taking a nap, Harper just woke up from a nap,
and I have yet to take a nap.
So thankful for no school today! But I will
have to go tomorrow... I am looking forward to it,
though. Getting back in a routine and such.
I have enjoyed SO SO SO much being at home
today playing in the snow and staying all cuddly!

It Snowed!

Well, in Kyler's short little
4 year old life and Harper's
even shorter 6 month old life...
it has snowed so much!
5 times for K and 2 times
for H! That is impressive
for us Mississippians! :)
It started up about 6 around
Caledonia and by 9,
our yard and our little road were covered!
I took lots of pictures, then bundled
Kyler up and we headed outside!
At 10 p.m.! No school for me
or him tomorrow, so why not!?
He had so much fun, even though
he was freezing the whole time. Even D
came out to enjoy the festivities... after he
got out of his hot shower. He'll be sick
for sure after that.  Maybe the snow will
stick through the night so I can take some
better pictures in the daylight. We'll see...
Until then...YAY for SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Goodnight!
